Over landfill, the construction of the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre was made possible by the use of HEIC ground improvement, subgrade stabilisation and reinforced piling platforms. Level 1 certified platforms were achieved following bulk fill of 30,000m3, and cut of 13,000m3.

Scope

    • Demolition & disposal of existing trees and root-balls

    • Demolition & disposal of existing asphalt carparks, roads, bollarding and kerbing

    • Demolition & disposal of civil stormwater network

    • Pile cropping works

    • Ground Improvement (High Energy Impact Compaction)

    • Excavation and disposal of contaminated and landfill waste found within bulk earthworks cut

    • Supply & install geo-grid for ground improvement

    • Cut, haul & dispose of material to achieve bulk earthworks level (13,000m3)‍‍

    • Place, spread & compact imported fill under Level 1 Supervision (30,000m3)

    • Final trimming of platforms, batters and bio-retention basins (40,000m2)

    • Supply, place & compact roadbase to 450mm thick platform (inc. geo-grid reinforcement for ground improvement)

    • Place & compact three-layer roadbase pavement design
